Our Story

“The Finishing Touch began in 2001 with a dream in the middle of the night of drapery hardware samples hung on the wall of a design studio. Funny though…I didn’t even own a business at that time. I had just decided to make draperies for our first home and then did a project for my mother-in-law. In the midst of that project, the dream came
and the rest is history!”

The Finishing Touch started in Sacramento, CA in March of 2001 by Misty Treviño. It started as a home-based workroom sewing draperies, cushions, pillows and bedding for residential customers. Thanks to her mother and great grandmother, Misty had a strong foundation in sewing clothing but had not yet developed experience creating professional draperies for homes. With the help of other colleagues and the Custom Home Furnishing Academy, Misty poured herself into learning as much as possible about professional standards for home interior fabrication. In no time she was drafting patterns and sewing complex couture treatments for homeowners in the greater Sacramento area. She even learned how to install window coverings and did many of her own installations over the years. Years later, Misty was selected to teach a bedding design class at the national WCAA conference in Louisville, KY.

In February 2011, Misty opened her first design studio. She established distribution of Iron Art by Orion, a drapery hardware company based in Los Angeles, CA. As she was hanging the hardware display boards on the wall, she remembered the dream. It had finally come to life 9 years later! The company expanded to offer blinds, shades and shutters as well as high end furniture, accessories, area rugs, and lighting.

It was time to expand the business to a bigger design studio in August of 2012. This well-known historic building in Old Town Roseville, CA became a design co-op where designers could source their products and serve their client base together.

In March of 2015, the family made the move to Phoenix, Arizona. Misty closed her business and took on a role as Regional Sales Manager for one of the country’s largest interior design product suppliers in the country. This time exposed Misty to textiles and design materials from around the world that shape modern interiors on a regional and national scale. Drawing on her experience and creativity, Misty became a trusted resource for sourcing products for designers that contributed to some of the most beautiful and award-winning spaces in the region.

Finally in March of 2025 it was time to go back into business for herself, and The Finishing Touch Window Coverings was reborn in Peoria, AZ. Today the company serves homeowners in the greater Phoenix area and works with interior designers and window covering professionals all over the country. We will always have a strong foundation built upon drapery, blinds and shades, but we are much more than a window covering company. The Finishing Touch offers full-service interior decorating, and we are extremely excited to see how the company will grow and flourish with over 2 decades of knowledge and experience in all aspects of this business.
